ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

One of the co-organizers Michael Martin explains why they named the planned protests “Welcome to Hell.”

The world of the G20, capitalism and patriarchal relationships mean the hell on earth for millions of people today, but not only the commodity flows and markets have become globalized, but also our resistance Not to be intimidated by the violence and the legal crimes of the police in Hamburg.” – Michael Martin, co-organizer of “Welcome to Hell”

On Sunday, July 2nd, police attacked a large protest camp in Northwest Hamburg. Multiple injuries of protesters reported. Police also raided the home of at least one suspected militant protester in Rostock, Germany. The police claim to have found a cache of minor weapons.

Police have not allowed protest encampments across the city. Efforts for a legal encampment have already been squashed despite local judges siding on the side of the encampments, as police have eradicated at least two camps.

At 10:00 a.m. this morning the ultimatum against the senate in Hamburg passed. Autonomous activists demanded from the senate to allow a protest camps with tents to sleep until 10:00 a.m. this morning. Otherwise activists would start wild camps across Hamburg. The senate didn’t react so things might escalate today. First “wild” camps already started: https://linksunten.indymedia.org/en/node/217240
